Ovzon and Hispasat, a Spanish telecommunications satellite operator, have entered into a strategic partnership agreement to jointly offer a high-capacity portable broadband solution. The agreement leverages both companies’ technologies, industry expertise, resources and market presence to promote joint growth. Hispasat will provide the satellite capacity to power the services in Europe and Latin America, where the companies will jointly market this solution.
The agreement includes technical collaboration across the organizations as well as joint go-to-market initiatives for fixed and occasional use services in Europe and Latin America. Hispasat and Ovzon have developed a combined service offering that includes the renowned T5 portable terminal from Ovzon together with Hispasat’s high performance satellites, providing governments, communication service providers and other organizations to benefit from a unique solution in an innovative and flexible business model.
The T5 is a small and easy-to-use advanced portable terminal, with an integrated antenna and modem which allow it to offer highly reliable and fast broadband connection, up to 60 Mbps, in a simple way. This terminal is especially intended for government solutions, innovative multimedia services and for security and emergency needs. As part of the combined solution, Hispasat provides satellite capacity in Ku band over Latin America and Europe from its 30ºW and 61ºW orbital positions.
The combined offer includes the terminal and connectivity in a single service with a monthly fee, which eliminates one of the main entry barriers by saving the customer the investment in the equipment. In addition, it is a flexible and scalable business model in which you can hire a plan with a minimum capacity and increase it when necessary.
“This strategic alliance will provide customers with best-in-class satellite communication technology, backed by Ovzon and satellite fleet operation backed by Hispasat. I am incredibly excited about this partnership and the opportunity it provides to fuel our future success. We expect it to generate more orders in the coming years in Europe and Latin America”, comments Magnus René, CEO of Ovzon.
“Ovzon has developed a great technology which allows high performance satellite communications on a light and small portable terminal, making it perfect for a wide range of critical applications, including those which require high speed and broadband access. We are thrilled to partner with them in making it available together with our high-power satellite connectivity. I’m convinced that, together, we will bring great value for our customers”, comments Ignacio Sanchis, CCO of Hispasat.
