Ovzon has secured a contract, valued at a total of MUSD 3,9, with the US Department of Defense (US DoD), through the US service provider Intelsat General Corporation, IGC. The contract includes satellite capacity on a steerable beam on Intelsat’s IS-39.
The contract covers three months, from early September to early December 2020, for the use of Ovzon’s satellite communication services. The contract is aligned by the customer to match their budgetary schedules and the contract is expected to continue following those first three months.
Ovzon’s current service offering, through leased capacity, will be significantly expanded with the launch of Ovzon’s new satellite, Ovzon 3, in 2021. Ovzon 3 will provide dramatically enhanced performance and functionality and is an important step to further revolutionize mobile broadband by satellite, offering the highest bandwidth with the smallest terminals. Ovzon 3 is the first of a number of satellites planned for Ovzon’s high-end, global service.
”We are excited to enter our eight year of continued service for US DoD and we are happy to see our end users’ satisfaction with our “end to end” capability. With this contract we are adding the capability of a steerable beam and thereby paving the way for our coming Ovzon 3 satellite. Ovzon 3 is equipped with a number if steerable beams and will further enhance our service and offering”, says Magnus René, CEO of Ovzon.
